This tour takes you a magical journey back in time to walk along the streets of Pompeii and Herculanem
as the Romans did more than 2,000 years ago !! In Pompeii explore the once busy Roman Port.
In Herculaneum visit the sumptuous villas that once adorned the coastline.
After visiting the sites a ride up to the volcano of Vesuvio .We will accompany you as far as possible by road and then give you time to reach the rim of the crater on foot , so that you can savour the spectaculalr views from the summit.
Herculaneum
When you visit this site,the first impression is one of amazement at the sheer volume of the volcanic materials that covered this Roman port. A large part of Herculaneum is still hidden beneath the present day town so you can explore the area which over 2000 years ago was close by the sea. Walking down through the materials and into the site you can still see the vertical tunnels they dug out in the 18th century , in which they used to lower men down into the ruins to pick up any items they could find.
Pompeii
With most of Pompeii excavated you can wander around this vast site as you could in ancient times.You can stop by the shops, call in the theatre, visit the houses and even read the graffiti on the walls.That is only the beginning, much more to see in this marvellous excavation site
Vesuvio
Still towering high above the bay is the volcano of Vesuvio.For those who wish to walk up to the rim, we can take you as far as you can by road and then give you ample time to walk up to the crater, it will take you around 40 mins to walk up, dependent on fitness levels, another 40 minutes to walk down.
For those who wish to admire the Volcano from afar - we will offer various suggestions for a light lunch
or a snack if you prefer - The choice is yours !
